Ray leads as home heroes Mackenzie and Skinner seek to shine at Knockhill

Bradley Ray leads the Bennetts British Superbike Championship standings heading into this weekend's fourth race at Knockhill (17-19 June).

As the series moves to Scotland for the following three races, the Kent contender will face stiff competition, including home heroes Tarran Mackenzie and Rory Skinner.

After a good start to the season, Ray of Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha leads teammate Yamaha rider Jason O'Halloran by 28 points. Ray has only finished off the podium once in the first nine races, giving him his best start to a Bennetts BSB season yet.

However, with two talented players from north of the border to cheer on, the Scottish supporters will be hoping for a home victory. Mackenzie, the reigning champion, and Skinner, the defending champion, are both in strong contention in Fife.

Last time out at Donington Park, Mackenzie made his comeback after a pre-season injury, finishing sixth. As he gets back up to speed and continues to defend his title, he'll be aiming for a return to the podium.

For the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Racing Kawasaki, Skinner, on the other hand, has already finished in the top three this year. Last year, the racer from Perth, which is only a short distance from Knockhill, had his maiden appearance on the podium.
During the previous event, O'Halloran became the season's fifth different race winner. This propelled the Australian ahead of Lee Jackson and Kyle Ryde in the standings, two other riders who have finished on the podium this year.

In the standings, Ryde leads Skinner by a single point, with Honda Racing UK's Glenn Irwin in sixth. Irwin is hoping to reclaim the form that saw him win a hat trick at the Silverstone season opening.

Christian Iddon of Buildbase Suzuki has been gaining ground as well. He finished sixth at Donington Park, his highest finish of the season, and he now returns to the track where he won last season.

Peter Hickman completes the all-important top-eight in the standings for the FHO Racing BMW team ahead of this weekend. Ducati contenders Tommy Bridewell and Josh Brookes, plus last year’s Knockhill double winner Danny Buchan are amongst those just behind, all of whom will be aiming to make progress up the standings.

Tarran Mackenzie

McAMS Yamaha

“For my first round back, we were pretty pleased with how Donington went but it was definitely a challenge!

“Having had pretty much the best part of a month off since then has been good for me, even at the test at the start of this month I was a lot better physically than I had been at Donington and we’re another couple of weeks on from that now.

“The test went well, I felt good on the bike and importantly didn’t have the arm pump that held me back a bit at Donington, so I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in this weekend.

“Knockhill is a special track for me with it being a home round, I was on the podium twice last year so I’m looking forward to getting back with the team and hopefully pushing towards the front.”

Rory Skinner

Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Racing Kawasaki

“I am really looking forward to the weekend and being back at Knockhill.

“The recent test there went really well – being a two-day test and a short lap, it gave us lots of opportunities to try new things with the bike.

“In total, we completed nearly 200 laps and I came away feeling really positive for going into the races there.

“Being my home round it’ll be great to have a full capacity of fans again as that wasn’t able to happen last season.

“I can’t wait to be back out on the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Racing Superbike in front of my home crowd!”

Watch the Corvette Team’s Le Mans Dream End Live With a Gentleman Racer’s Crash | FormulaNASCAR

Sunday at around 10 a.m. local time; only five hours remained on the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans. Alexander Sims in the No. 64 Corvette was charging to the front to fight Ferrari for the GTE Pro class lead. He wouldn't get the chance to, however, because Francois Perrodo, a gentleman driver in the LMP2 class, crashed into the Corvette while trying to make a pass of his own down the Mulsanne straight. This, in addition to the No. 63 Corvette's mechanical woes, would effectively end the American team's hopes for a successful race.
