F1 news LIVE: Hamilton told to quit, Verstappen's Ferrari demand, Lewis faces protest | FormulaNASCAR

Hamilton told to quit, Verstappen's Ferrari demand, Lewis faces protest Source FormulaNASCAR - As the British Grand Prix approaches, Max Verstappen holds the championship lead as Red Bull continues to profit from Ferrari's struggles. Sergio Perez, the Dutchman's teammate, is now 46 points behind him in the standings. Charles Leclerc , his title opponent, is 49 points behind him after recent Ferrari failures. In two of the last three races, the Monegasque had mechanical issues, and strategic mistakes cost him potential victories. Despite Mercedes difficulties, George Russell is still in the running for the championship thanks to his consistency. He is just over 50 points behind Verstappen. The former Williams driver is currently the only one on the starting grid to have finished in the top five in each race so far this year. He probably would have won another podium in Canada if it weren't for a last-minute risk on dry tyres in Q3 that caused him to finish e...

"Pierre Gasly to keep AlphaTauri seat in 2023" Source FormulaNASCAR :- Next season, Pierre Gasly is "100% sure" to return to AlphaTauri, and teams feel Oscar Piastri is ready for a promotion to Formula One. Next season, Pierre Gasly is "100% sure" to return to AlphaTauri, and teams feel Oscar Piastri is ready for a promotion to Formula One. However, Williams expects their roster to remain constant until the end of the year, which would be fantastic news for Nicholas Latifi if true, while McLaren chief Zak Brown stated his relationship with Daniel Ricciardo has never been better. All of this was disclosed on Saturday at the Canadian Grand Prix, the ninth race on the calendar this year and more than six weeks before F1's "silly season" of driver movement gets underway. Since last month, when Brown publicly warned Ricciardo to improve his performance with McLaren, speculation has swirled. Despite the fact that Brown's contract with ...

Lewis Hamilton took out by team-mate as Sebastian Vettel lost all-time great Formula 1 race | FormulaNASCAR

"Lewis Hamilton took out by a team-mate as Sebastian Vettel lost all-time"  Source FormulaNASCAR - Ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, Mirror Sport remembers one of the greatest races ever to take place on the Montreal track – featuring a record-breaking comeback from Jenson Button. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve has played host to some iconic races over the years, and the 2011  Canadian Grand Prix  might just be the best of them. It remains the longest race in  Formula 1  history at a shade over four hours from start to finish, though two of those hours saw nothing happen as intense rain caused the red flags to fly. When the cars were moving, though, the action was breathtaking. And  Lewis Hamilton  was very much in the thick of it from the get-go. Just four laps had come and gone when he was involved in a collision, spinning the  Red Bull  piloted by  Mark Webber  who ended up falling to the back of the grid. But t...

British Superbike: Ray Leads Standings Heading Into Knockhill | FormulaNASCAR Ray leads as home heroes Mackenzie and Skinner seek to shine at Knockhill Bradley Ray leads the Bennetts British Superbike Championship standings heading into this weekend's fourth race at Knockhill (17-19 June). As the series moves to Scotland for the following three races, the Kent contender will face stiff competition, including home heroes Tarran Mackenzie and Rory Skinner. After a good start to the season, Ray of Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha leads teammate Yamaha rider Jason O'Halloran by 28 points. Ray has only finished off the podium once in the first nine races, giving him his best start to a Bennetts BSB season yet. However, with two talented players from north of the border to cheer on, the Scottish supporters will be hoping for a home victory. Mackenzie, the reigning champion, and Skinner, the defending champion, are both in strong contention in Fife. Last time out at Donington Park, M...

Watch the Corvette Team’s Le Mans Dream End Live With a Gentleman Racer’s Crash | FormulaNASCAR

Image
Watch the Corvette Team’s Le Mans Dream End Live With a Gentleman Racer’s Crash | FormulaNASCAR Sunday at around 10 a.m. local time; only five hours remained on the  2022 24 Hours of Le Mans . Alexander Sims in the No. 64 Corvette was charging to the front to fight Ferrari for the GTE Pro class lead. He wouldn't get the chance to, however, because Francois Perrodo, a gentleman driver in the LMP2 class, crashed into the Corvette while trying to make a pass of his own down the Mulsanne straight. This, in addition to the No. 63 Corvette's mechanical woes, would effectively end the  American team's hopes for a successful race . Adding insult to injury is the fact that Sims is one of the nicest men in motorsport; So #LeMans24 LeMans was eventful as always and despite the early end, I am so proud to have been a part of the @CorvetteRacing effort. The car was so fast and a sheer pleasure to drive. Shame that the GTE PRO era is over at Le Mans 😔 https://t.co/fsLRvmOl0T — Alexand...

Overtaking masterclass at the Hungaroring in ETCR Formula 1 | FormulaNASCAR

Image
Overtaking masterclass at the Hungaroring in ETCR Formula 1 | FormulaNASCAR Much is said about the difficulty of overtaking in championships such as Formula 1, with "DRS trains" or narrow tracks meaning a lack of entertainment. In the ETCR, where the cars are almost identical, one might think it was the same, but it is not. In the ETCR, the cars have a maximum power of 500Kw for the qualifying laps, while in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals races the cars are limited to 300Kw but they are able to use the "Power Up". It is an instant increase in power to 450Kw that lasts 40 seconds for the quarter-finals and only 20 seconds for the semi-finals and the final. The use of this button is very important for strategy because, unlike F1's DRS, this extra power is used both to attack the car in front and also to defend against a possible overtaking. The job of the engineers in the wall is to predict, warn and advise the driver when it is better to spend t...

Road America IndyCar: O’Ward leads Power in Second Practice Day | FormulaNASCAR

Image
Road America IndyCar: O’Ward leads Power in Second Practice Day | FormulaNASCAR Pato O’Ward, who took his first IndyCar pole position at Road America two years ago, again mastered the track in second practice for tomorrow’s Sonsio Grand Prix to put Arrow McLaren SP-Chevrolet on top. In cool conditions, and with no alternate-compound tires available in FP2 (they were used in yesterday’s first practice session) Conor Daly held top spot for Ed Carpenter Racing-Chevrolet after 15mins, with a 1min46.5240sec. But then defending race-winner Alex Palou delivered a third lap in his Chip Ganassi Racing-Honda was over a second quicker, a 1min45.4062. Romain Grosjean, who had his lap on the softer Firestones yesterday ruined by a red flag, showed he had latent pace on the primaries, too, but as he moved up to second, he was still 0.6sec off Palou’s benchmark, and he was swiftly pushed down to third by Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren SP-Chevrolet. Yesterday’s pacesetter and 2019 Road Ame...
